Apr 24Get ready to make tracks for tigers, and check another New Year’s resolution off your list! The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Run for the Wild will take place along a beautiful 5K course at the Bronx Zoo, and is open to runners and walkers alike.

The black-footed, or African, penguin does not dwell on the ice like so many of its cousins. Instead, it lives in cold currents off the coast of South Africa. These noisy birds are also known as “jackass penguins” because of their shrill calls. They bray for mate recognition, when angry, or to say hello.
Meet more animals >> | Join Danny and Spanky for their daily fish feeding, then watch the otter duo play games with their keepers. A favorite is the “toy retrieve” game, when keepers toss balls into the deep waters for Danny and Spanky to bring up to the surface in exchange for a treat. It’s like ring toss for sea otters! You’ll also have a chance to ask the keepers you questions about sea otters.
